Are you a curious medium?
You've probably heard the saying "curiosity killed the cat", a proverb that cautions against prying into the affairs of others, as it may lead to unforeseen trouble. Well that could not be further from the truth for a medium. Far from leading to trouble, curiosity serves as a beacon of light, illuminating the path to evidential messaging and profound insights in the world of mediumship. It opens up channels of communication with the spirit world, allowing mediums to receive messages from loved ones, guides, and other spiritual beings.
Mediumship goes beyond passively receiving messages from the spirit world; it represents a multifaceted skill that involves deciphering impressions and actively engaging with the unknown. Curiosity acts as the guiding compass for mediums, leading us through the intricate tapestry of the spirit world and enhancing the depth of information and clarity we can access.
As I share in my mentorship programs, spiritual communication is much like navigating through an iceberg where only a fraction is visible above the surface. Working with spirits requires curiosity, discernment, and active participation from both the medium and the spirit. Impressions, symbols, or messages represent the tip of the iceberg – the visible part that hints at the vast amount of information lying beneath the surface.
We mediums need to be inquisitive. Willing to delve deeper into the impressions we receive with curiosity and a somewhat insatiable thirst for more. We need to get nosey by asking spirit questions to glean more evidential pieces of information. Unfortunately many mediums miss the chance to capitalize on the wealth of insights available to them simply by failing to engage fully in the conversation with spirits. By accepting surface-level impressions without further inquiry, we risk overlooking valuable details, nuances, and healing messages that enriches the experience for the sitter.
I've made it a practice to get nosey with spirit by remaining curious to what I am picking up by asking probing questions.
- What's inside your purse? When grandma shows up holding a purse, I inquire about the contents, ask her to reveal the items inside, invite her to open her wallet to unveil personal identifiers like her name, date of birth, and the address of her former residence.
- Do you have anything special in your pocket? This can reveal items like bubble gum, hard card, notes, and love letters.
- Is there something you are holding in your hands? They can carry treasures, whether it be a cherished memento, a significant symbol, or a message waiting to be shared.
When shown a kitchen, ask spirit to open up the cupboard doors and show you what is inside, what memories are tied to the spice jar. Did they love to cook? If so, can they tell you about their favorite recipe? From cinnamon buns, treats, to other culinary delights. Its fun to discover the hidden gems that await your attention.
A vehicle. Ask for the specific make and model of their favorite car/truck. Often an initial impression is based on our personal bias and not necessarily spirit specific. Find out where they liked to travel, do they have a funny story to share. Dads, husbands, and grandfathers love to open the hood of a vehicle to show me when a client needs to change the oil in their vehicle, when mechanical issues are concerning, or there is a need to buy a new car/truck even though none of this is in my wheel house.
Get nosey sweet mediums! Spirit is able to unveil even more information when we slow down and get curious about the impressions we receive. There are more experiences waiting to be explored, more golden nuggets that can make your sitter have a deeply meaningful session with you.
Embrace curiosity and watch as it transforms your practice into a journey of profound connections, evidential messaging, and divine insight.
